This past summer, they had a horrible stretch of days with temperatures over 100 degrees. I have visited there in the past and I am telling you the place can be brutal. The combination of high temps and high humidity will suck the life right out of you.

Just for kicks, I programmed my iPhone alarm to sound like a rooster.  At 0415, the damn thing went off. I was struck by a sad story.

The Liberty Belle is gone.

Sadly, the Belle crashed today in Illinois.  Apparently, a fire was reported shortly after take-off.  Reports suggest that all seven crew got off safely.  A video can be seen here.

What is it, you ask?

Okay, the whole thing is a bit over the top, but at its core level, it is pretty simple.  Basically, it is a tent for camping. The idea is to have clear walls so you can enjoy the outdoors while you are "indoors."
I have to wager that this designer has never been camping. Ever. Like many cemeteries in the area, this one has pine trees. Pine trees, of course, in southeast Michigan during the winter months, can be day roosts for Saw-whet Owls or Long-eared Owls.  So, during the colder months of  the year, it is not unusual for me to take a minute and check this particular cemetery.
